Free-agent quarterback Jeff Driskel reportedly had a positive visit with the Dallas Cowboys, but may not end up signing with the organization.
According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Driskel had a great visit Thursday, and there is a strong chance he will sign with the Cowboys and become the instant favorite to serve as starting quarterback Dak Prescott s primary backup.
Fort Worth Star-Telegram followed up that report with a report of his own that the Cowboys will not be signing Driskel at this time, however.
The 28-year-old Driskel, who is set to enter his sixth NFL season, was released by the Denver Broncos this week.

209 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Wednesday, continuing the streak of single digit deaths in Dallas County.
A large-scale COVID-19 vaccination center will open at UT Arlington Wednesday, administering an estimated 630+ doses a day. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Prosecutors in Texas said Thursday that they wouldn’t seek the death penalty for a 78-year-old man arrested last year and accused of the 1974 abduction and slaying of a teen girl.

ProPublica announced on Wednesday that it has hired three additional reporters to complete its new regional reporting units in the South and Southwest. Sarah Smith will join the South team and Mark Olalde and Anjeanette Damon will join the Southwest team.
The new reporters will join the newly formed reporting units led by Mara Shalhoup, South editor, and Michael Squires, Southwest editor. New hires in the Midwest unit, led by editor Louise Kiernan, were announced earlier this year with a new reporter position recently added.
“ProPublica’s commitment to local reporting has allowed us to expand our newsroom with journalists from across the regions with exceptional skills in in-depth reporting,” Shalhoup said.
