11 units at Cottondale Efficiency Apartments damaged in fire

An investigation is underway after 11 units at Cottondale Efficiency Apartments caught fire Tuesday evening.  Engines 4,6,9, Truck 32, Truck 39, Rescue 24 and Battalion 2 responded to the scene at around 11 p.m, according to Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue.  All occupants of the apartments were accounted for. One minor injury was reported.  The fire was finally extinguished around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue told The Tuscaloosa News that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time but an investigation is continuing.

Tuscaloosa Thread this morning, the fire occurred late Tuesday night at Cottondale Efficiency Apartments off Highway 11 in Cottondale. Perry Madison, owner of the Cottondale Efficiency Apartments, said that the fire was reported just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Madison said 11 units were destroyed in the fire, and one resident sustained a mild head injury when evacuating. Madison says the American Red Cross has offered to assist the families impacted by the fire, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa is currently developing plans to help those families during the holiday season.
