Coimbatore district reported 534 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
According to the Health Department, the district has 4,438 active cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
The Health Department said that there were 75 containment zones in the corporation limits. The department said that 643 persons from the district recovered from COVID-19 on Thursday.
The district’s death toll increased to 705 after two persons died of the disease on Tuesday. While a 45-year-old woman died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, an 80-year-old man succumbed to the disease at a private hospital, said the Health Department.

COIMBATORE A total of 540 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Coimbatore district on Wednesday.
The Health Department said the district had 4,544 active cases as on Wednesday, and 521 persons recovered from the disease.
According to the department, three COVID-19 patients from the district died on Monday and Tuesday. A 55-year-old woman and a 70-year-old woman died at the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital and the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Monday. A 59-year-old man died of the infection at the CMCH on Tuesday. The district’s death toll stood at 703 on Wednesday.
Tiruppur reports 160 new cases and one death A total of 604 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Coimbatore district on Monday, taking the overall tally to 63,808.
According to the district administration, swab samples collected from 6,388 persons were subjected to testing on Monday.
The district had 4,378 active cases on Monday and 283 persons were discharged from various treatment facilities.
The Health Department said that a 50-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, died on April 9 and the district’s death toll increased to 700.
Tiruppur district reported 160 new cases on Monday. As many as 36 persons returned home after recovering from the disease on the day. The treatment centres had 1,233 patients under care.
