Woman dies of smoke inhalation in Coonoor Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA A 60-year-old woman died of smoke inhalation when she and her family started a fire to keep warm on Sunday night. The police identified the deceased as G. Kalavathy. She was living with her husband, Gajapathy (66) and son G. Mahendran (30) in Ambikapuram near Coonoor. The three had lit a fire inside their home to keep warm through the night. The family had used some varnish as fuel for the fire and is believed to have fallen asleep. The noxious gases from the fire is believed to have knocked them unconscious and local residents rushed into their house on early Monday morning after noticing the smoke bellowing from their house.

Coimbatore: Covid-19 vaccine administration may begin from Wednesday, sources here said. The vaccine is likely to be administered at more than five centres in the district including Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, ESI Hospital, PSG Medical College and Hospital, Karpagam Medical College and Hospital, and District Headquarters Hospital in Pollachi. Senior officials in the public health department were called for an emergency video conference convened by the state government on Saturday afternoon. “We were told to be prepared to administer the vaccine from Wednesday. We were also told that one centre should be equipped with a webcam, because the Prime Minister may want to view the proceedings across the country,” said an official.

Second Covid vaccination dry run successful in dist | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: The dry run for administration of vaccine for Covid-19 was successfully conducted in the district on Friday. None of the five centres selected for the dry run faced any glitches or issues, officials of the health department said. All the centres also managed to complete the practice run on 25 people each within two hours. However, the number of centres where the real vaccine would be administered is yet to be decided. The dry run was conducted at five locations in the district Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Nallatipalayam PHC, Samathur PHC, Karpagam Medical College and Hospital and Mettupalayam GH. Just like the nationwide dry run, we selected 25 beneficiaries for each centre. Since their data was already fed into the Covin app, we faced no difficulties in finding their data. We administered the vaccination following the data, deputy director of public health Dr G Ramesh Kumar said.

Jothi Ramalingam 12 more persons succumb to COVID-19; Villupuram and Perambalur report no new infection Tamil Nadu recorded 805 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with two districts Villupuram and Perambalur reporting no new infection. Another 12 persons died, taking the toll to 12,200. Till date, a total of 8,23,986 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in the State. As many as 911 persons were discharged on Thursday, taking the total figure to 8,04,239. Presently 7,547 persons are under treatment in the State. Of these, 2,274 are in Chennai, 734 in Coimbatore and 403 in Chengalpattu.
