Meet Your Neighbor: Job skills led Elder to share faith by speaking, writing Sheri Trusty Elder is a speaker, author and the founder of “Jesus Sisters” online community. On May 14 and 15, she was the opening speaker for a women’s event at Grace Community Church that featured Grammy, Billboard and Dove award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Story. Elder attended church as she grew up, dedicated her life to God as a child and graduated from Temple Christian Academy in Fremont. Even with that strong foundation, she fell away from her commitment and began living what she calls “a mediocre life” a life she said had nothing to do with her circumstances and everything to do with a distant relationship with God.
