The results are in and it s official - Lidl has been named the cheapest supermarket in the UK, beating the likes of Aldi, Asda and Tesco, according to Which? research.
The low-cost retailer received the golden accolade following a comparison of 45 popular branded and own-label products across eight major supermarkets for at least 100 days between January and December last year.
The results showed that on average, Lidl customers paid just £42.67 for their trolley which included items such as Hovis bread, Knorr stock cubes and free-range eggs.

Davis has been in custody since being arrested Wednesday night by police for allegedly stealing a vehicle an event unrelated to Loncar s killing. He has been charged separately with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Davis will not be eligible for pretrial release on cash bail, Krasner said. Just two weeks before Loncar s killing, Davis was released on substantially reduced bail in an armed kidnapping and assault case, court records show.

On Wednesday night, just before 7 p.m., Milan Loncar, 25, of Philadelphia, was walking his dog in the Brewerytown section of the city and was turning down Jefferson Street when two men dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks stopped him, the Philadelphia Police Department said in a statement.
