The Sindh government, concerned over threats and inconvenience caused to the public by the blocking of highways during protests, has ordered an immediate ban on staging protest rallies and sit-ins on highways and bypasses, throughout the province for 60 days.
A notification, issued in this regard by the home department, reads that no highway and inter-district road blockade will be allowed in view of the deliberations done during the 25th provincial apex committee meeting held on January 25, when threats, inconvenience to the public and negative socio-economic impacts of such blockages were taken into consideration.

The Sindh government has barred individuals, and political and religious groups from blocking traffic on major highways and roads in the province.
Protests, sit-ins and rallies âfor the purpose of blocking trafficâ have been banned with immediate effect for 60 days, the Sindh home department said in a notification.
Teenage girl rescued, three abductors held

Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a bid to kidnap a teenage girl and arrested three alleged abductors.
According to police, three suspects travelling on a car kidnapped the girl at gunpoint near the Manghopir shrine. Hearing her hue and cry, a score of people gathered at the scene and informed the police helpline. Police immediately reached the scene and followed the kidnappers car. Within 15 minutes, police managed to catch the the kidnappers, Sajid, Noman and Yousuf, and recovered the girl. A case has been registered while an investigation is under way.
