  Dr Gordon Ofei-Larbi, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, says children with hole in heart conditions at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, are in dire need of help. He, therefore, appealed to benevolent organisations and individuals to support the Unit to provide timely healthcare services to them. Dr Ofei-Larbi made the appeal when he received some support on behalf of the Cardiothoracic Centre from Angel Smile Foundation Ghana (ASF-Ghana), a non-profitable organisation. ASF-Ghana donated 170 half pieces of cloth and headgears to women on admission at the Cardiothoracic Centre and Maternity Wards of the Hospital to mark the Mother’s Day celebration.

A doctor in Korle Bu, Ghana is currently under investigation by the police for allegedly poisoning a colleague’s water with blood infected with HIV. Graphic Online reported that the doctors involved work at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), and the act is suspected to have been carried out following a disagreement between the two while on duty. A complaint was filed at Korle Bu District Police Command at about 11.30 am on May 6, 2021, by a medical doctor accompanied by the lawyer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Mr Kwame Gyamfi, regarding the allegation of water-poisioning.

The doctors did not let us down, but the system did”. Michael died on April 9, 2021, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he was receiving treatment after undergoing two successful surgeries to remove a brain tumor.
