Temple motorcycle club beats the heat at Cove ice cream shop

A local motorcycle group was one step ahead of the heat Sunday with a scoop of ice cream in hand. Members of the Horny Toad HOG Chapter, headquartered in Temple, gathered at Waffle Cone at 508 Cove Terrace Shopping Center in Copperas Cove for an ice cream social. Riders took off around 3:40 p.m. Sunday and got their frozen treats at the local shop. Don Toscano, member of the HOG Chapter, said the event a chance for club members to gather. “We meet for ice cream maybe three to four times a year,” Toscano said. “Members get a patch for coming. They’ll get a scoop added to their patch.”

Pink Warrior Angels host 6th anniversary celebration

Pink Warrior Angels of Texas commemorated six years of assisting people diagnosed with cancer during a birthday celebration at the Healthy Hub in Cove Terrace Shopping Center on Saturday. Healthy Hub held a cardio drumming class generally conducted during the weekdays but hosted a special class on Saturday for the birthday celebration. Also, at least nine local vendors set up shop in front of Healthy Hub to show their support. Julie Moser, the founder of Pink Warrior Angels, said the event was coordinated and planned by Healthy Hub owner Jessie Jonasson. Moser said she was approached by Jonasson, who expressed a desire to get involved and provide support.

Rabbit Fest kicks off Thursday in Cove

Rabbit Fest kicks off Thursday evening in Copperas Cove after a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The annual festival happens the third weekend of May at the Copperas Cove City Park, 1206 W. Ave. B. Mayor Bradi Diaz will officially open the festivities at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, but the gates open at 4 p.m. Lining the park will be dozens of food and merchandise vendors, along with a carnival from Crabtree Amusements. Annual Rabbit Fest kicks of May 13 in Cove

The event will formally kick off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with the opening ceremonies. All festivities will take place at the Copperas Cove City Park, 1206 W. Ave. B. “It’s actually amazing. We are so excited that people are looking forward to getting out and seeing the community, seeing each other,” said Ross Oliver, interim chamber president, of being able to hold the event again. “We did hear that Bluebonnet Fest (in Burnet) had the largest showing they’ve had in a long time, and we are expecting the same thing.” Weekend passes for the event that runs through Sunday are $5 for a carload, or $1 per person for individuals.
