PAC discusses fiscal anomalies in AWKUM

PESHAWAR: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Wednesday asked the public sector universities to demonstrate extra care in financial matters as public funds are national trust with them.
The observations were made during the meeting of the PAC on disposal of audit paras on certain fiscal anomalies in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), said an official handout.
The meeting on Higher Education Department (HED) was chaired by Member Provincial Assembly Muhammad Idrees at KP Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar.
Besides MPAs Inayatullah, Babar Saleem Swati, senior officials of the Higher Education, Law, Finance, Accounts & Audit Departments and KP Assembly as well as AWKUM attended the meeting.

PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: A lawmaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, as the country recorded 1,579 cases and 52 deaths in a single day.
According to the KP Assembly Secretariat, MPA Asia Asad, the KP Chief Minister’s focal person for coronavirus, tested positive after which she isolated herself at home. It said Asad had been asked to adopt proper protective measures against Covid-19 at home. The MPA has also appealed to well-wishers to pray for her early recovery from the infection.
Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) was informed that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) had given emergency use authorisation of Sinopharm’s Covid vaccine for administration to those above 60 years of age.

The PML-N, however, termed the resignations “fake” and asked the speakers of the two assemblies to hold inquiry over the issue and tell them as to who had submitted these resignations to them. AFP/File
ISLAMABAD: A controversy on Thursday broke out between the National Assembly Secretariat and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as the former issued letters to two PML-N lawmakers from Mansehra and Abbottabad, asking them to appear before Speaker Asad Qaiser for verification of their ‘resignations’ while the two lawmakers denied sending any resignation to the speaker.
A similar letter was issued to PML-N MPA Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, also from Abbottabad, by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar.
