By: News 9 The Edmond Board of Education has selected a new superintendent. Angela Mills Grunewald, the current associate superintendent for educational services, is the district s new superintendent, according to a news release. The board approved her hiring during a special meeting Tuesday after a two-month search. Grunewald will be Edmond Public Schools first female superintendent in the district s history with the exception of an interim superintendent in the early 1900s, the district said. She will assume the leadership position after the retirement of Bret Towne at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. “We are excited Dr. Grunewald will be the next leader of Edmond Public Schools,” Kathleen Duncan, Board of Education president, said. “From her days as an Edmond principal to her current position, she has long been a driving force behind the success of our district and its students.
