UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. As part of a phased approach to select a new president for Penn State, the Board of Trustees is engaging the University community beginning this spring in a process to inform the selection of a world-class leader to be Penn State’s 19
As previously announced, President Eric Barron
plans to retire once his contract expires in June 2022. Now, the board has formed a task force to spearhead efforts to find Penn State’s next president.
To get started, the Board of Trustees’ Presidential Recruitment and Selection Committee launched a new initiative, titled “Next Gen Penn State,” to guide its efforts and receive feedback and input from the community throughout the university’s search.
“The Next Gen Penn State initiative is a ‘listening phase’ of our process within which stakeholders from varying backgrounds and perspectives will be charged with actively soliciting input from all areas of our community to help inform the selection of Penn State’s next president,” Board of Trustees Chair Matt Schuyler said. “This is a critical step in the overall presidential search process, and it is an indispensable opportunity for community members to be involved. Clements named assistant vice provost for faculty affairs-faculty development

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Ann C. Clements, director of Penn State’s Center for Pedagogy in Arts and Design (C-PAD) and a professor of music education, has been named the University’s assistant vice provost for faculty affairs-faculty development. Clements will begin her appointment on Feb. 15.
In her new role, Clements will serve in the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and lead strategic efforts to expand and reconceptualize programs and services related to the professional and leadership development of more than 6,400 full-time faculty across the University.
With a career spanning two decades in higher education as an administrator and faculty member, Clements has wide-ranging experience that will inform her work in faculty affairs. In addition to her leadership of C-PAD since 2017, Clements has taught music education at Penn State since 2003 and served on the University

Nominations sought for President s Award for Excellence in Academic Integration

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Nominations are being accepted for the 2021 President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Integration, an honor recognizing faculty members who have exhibited extraordinary achievement in the integration of teaching and research or creative accomplishments, and service.
The award was established in 1996 to recognize faculty members who have excelled in all three areas of their professions and consists of a specially designed certificate and a cash gift of $3,000. Recipients of the award typically have a strong outreach component as a substantive element of their scholarship. The communities reached by faculty outreach activities are generally those not normally encountered during performance of normal scholarly activities.
