Offer to mediate in Belarus crisis still stands, says OSCE chairwoman 1 minute read
Nur-Sultan, Apr 12 (EFE).- The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s offer to mediate in the Belarusian political crisis between the Alexander Lukashenko regime and the opposition remains valid, the organisation’s Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, said on Monday.
“When problems arose in Belarus, when unfair, unfree elections were held and many people were arrested and mistreated, the OSCE decided to propose facilitating dialogue between the regime and civil society,” Linde said after meeting Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
“This proposal is still valid today and we hope that there will be an opportunity in Belarus to hold free elections for all political forces and for those people who want to have freedom of choice,” she said at a press conference in Kazakhstan as part of a tour of Central Asia that will also take her to Kyrgyzstan

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM Russian FM Sergey Lavrov told about the prospects for mutual economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Kazinform reports. Related news «Despite the pandemic outbreak the countries have realized a number of promising projects, including construction of the Kamaz plant in Kostanay, launch of chemical industry works in Zhambyl region, tyre works in Karaganda region,» Lavrov said following the meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
During the talks the parties also discussed promising directions for further cooperation.

The commodity turnover in 2020 between Kazakhstan and Russia decreased by 4.5% to stand at USD 19 bln,» visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following the meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
«We understand that the sales growth trend will be restored, first of all, thanks to well-coordinated and active work of the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation. I would like to note that chemical industry products and agricultural raw materials sales have grown last year. It means that joint efforts within the EAEU may help achieve good results,» he noted.

Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea is being introduced into the legislation of Kazakhstan. Members of the Kazakh Mazhilis approved amendments in the first reading.
