No suspect apprehended yet in Mulberry shooting

PITTSBURG, Kan. A man was shot Sunday afternoon in Mulberry, and while his injuries were not life-threatening, a suspect had not been identified or apprehended and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained unclear Monday morning.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook late Sunday that it had received a call earlier in the afternoon reporting that someone had been shot, and responding deputies located the victim, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Rose, in the roadway on Highland Street south of Perry Street in Mulberry with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.
‘Bike Rodeo’ set for Saturday

PITTSBURG, Kan. Several local organizations are teaming up to host an event this weekend to promote proper bicycle usage as well as to distribute bike helmets and educational materials to those in need.
The “Bike Rodeo,” sponsored by Pittsburg Noon Rotary Club, Tailwind Cyclists, Crawford County Emergency Medical Services, the Pittsburg Police Department and the Pittsburg Fire Department, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 1, at the west lot at Lincoln Center.
If you already have a bike, bring it with you and get it registered. The event will also include a chance to win a new bike. All are welcome to enter for their chance to win.
A 16-year-old Denison male suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision in the Denison High School parking lot Friday night. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m. Their investigation revealed a 17-year-old Denison male was southbound in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The 16 year old was traveling northeast in a 2004 Ford Ranger. Law enforcement reports both vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed when they collided head on. The trucks came to rest a short distance away, where the Silverado caught on fire. The 17 year old was safely removed from the Silverado and transported by private vehicle to Crawford County Memorial Hospital. The 16 year old was transported by Crawford County Emergency Medical Services to Crawford County Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Two injured in wrecks over the weekend

PITTSBURG, Kan. Two people were injured in car accidents in Pittsburg over the weekend, according to information from the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Pittsburg Police Department.
Shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Pittsburg police and firefighters and Crawford County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the intersection of Stillwell Street and Centennial Drive in response to a single-vehicle accident, according to a police press release.
John Coleman, 58, of Pittsburg was heading westbound on Centennial when the 2010 Dodge Avenger he was driving “crossed the center line, struck a telephone pole, and rolled, ending up on its roof,” according to the release. “Coleman was transported by Crawford County EMS.”
