BUCYRUS - A man who had to be removed from his vehicle with a hydraulic cutting tool was one of two people injured in a two-vehicle crash east of the city on Wednesday.
Shawn K. Rohrback, 40, of Bloomville, was taken to Avita Health System-Bucyrus Hospital after firefighters from the Whetstone Volunteer Fire Department used the jaws of life to remove him from his vehicle, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. He later was transferred to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. A report on his condition was not available Friday morning.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office will be holding their next permit to carry class this Sunday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Law Enforcement Center at 1119 1
st Ave. North in Denison. Space will be limited to allow for social distancing and will be capped at 22 individuals. This will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Masks are optional, but encouraged. The class is expected to take about an hour. Cost for residents of Crawford County will be $20 and will raise to $40 per person for non-county residents. Woman arrested for fatal western Iowa shooting

DOW CITY, Iowa – A woman has been charged with murder after a small town shooting in western Iowa.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says it responded Sunday night to an anonymous call from a concerned citizen about the welfare of a friend. Deputies say they arrived at a home in the 500 block of East Fulton in Dow City to find Jeremy Frank, 46, bleeding and unresponsive.
Frank was taken to Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison where he was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending with the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
