Brewerton, N.Y. When we reviewed Bear Creek in its original location a couple of years ago, we were struck by two non-food elements of the place: the cavernous feel of the dining room and the extraordinarily helpful, friendly staff.
The new Bear Creek, where the original’s owners are no longer involved, is a smaller place with the big screen televisions and loud music usually associated with a bar that serves food. That atmosphere is exactly what the new owner told us he was after, his intent being to draw the “25-to-50 crowd” that wants to “grab a burger and a beer.”
In fiscal 2020, more than two-thirds of the $467,000 the city got in liquor fees came from restaurants, according to a city analysis. The annual fee for a restaurant liquor license is about $4,000.
