MISSOULA â On top of the COVID-19 pandemic, it may seem like thereâs been lots of violence in the news lately. Here in Missoula County, thatâs because there has been more than in years past.
2020 was a challenging year, bringing uncertainty, racial injustice, and financial insecurity and health concerns due to COVID-19 â and in Missoula County, our criminal justice system saw impacts.
âWe had a huge spike in violent crime, particularly in family-related violent crime,â said Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst.

Man accused of Missoula murder pleads not guilty

MISSOULA â Christopher Lance Newrider of Missoula, charged with shooting a man in the head in an apartment complex parking lot, says he s not guilty.
Newrider has been charged with one count of deliberate homicide for the shooting death of 33-year-old Sundance Hernandez.
Newrider appeared before Missoula District Judge Robert Deschamps for his arraignment Tuesday afternoon and entered a not guilty plea to a charge of deliberate homicide.
Court documents detail what happened the day of the fatal shooting on December 8 in the parking lot of the Creekside apartments on East Broadway.
