Dr Selwayan Saini as Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect.
Dr Saini brings with him over 15 years of experience working in senior operational roles in large global companies and in rapidly growing start-ups. Most recently he was Senior Director of Operations at Oxford Nanopore Technologies and prior to that he held various senior positions including CEO at Medtech Inside Biometrics and Vice President and Worldwide Director at Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices & Diagnostics. Cranfield Airport is a commercial and GA airport situated in Class G airspace situated between Bedford and the City of Milton Keynes with a 1799m runway which can accommodate business jets such as the Falcon, Gulfstream and Boeing Business Jet, which currently do not require runway slots.
The UAS Chief Pilot will be responsible to the UAS Manager for the safe and secure operation of all Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Drones and Remotely Piloted Aerial Vehicles that are operated on behalf of Cranfield University within the Airport’s Air Traffic Zone or elsewhere.
The role will entail working with Airport staff, University staff, the CAA and University industry collaborators, in the creation and compliance of existing and new operational procedures and safety cases that enable enhanced (e.g. BVLOS) operations alongside normal Airport operations. Compliance with ANO 2016, CAP 393 and CAP 722 plus other existing and future relevant legislation will be a requirement.

The vice chancellor (VC) of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Professor Olukayode Amund, has been awarded the fellowship of the National Academic of Science (NAS).
According to a statement by the executive secretary of the academy, Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo, the selection of Professor Amund as a fellow of the academy was in recognition of his invaluable contribution to the field of science in Nigeria and beyond.
Dr. Odubanjo added that the decision to elect Professor Amund as a fellow of the academy was made at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the academy held on January 28, 2021.
While enjoining Professor Amund not to rest on his oars, Dr. Odubanjo charged him to continue to contribute to the knowledge of science, noting that the experience of scholars like Prof. Amund will always be required for the advancement of science in Nigeria.
