FILMING is to begin next week on a sequel to the much-loved children s film The Railway Children, with Jenny Agutter, Sheridan Smith and Tom Courtenay all set to star. It is just over 50 years since the original film hit the box office and cameras are set to roll once again in the Worth Valley. The Railway Children Return will see key locations from the original film once again on the big screen, with Keighley & Worth Valley Railway having a starring role once more. Inspired by the original 1970s film, other notable locations will include Oakworth Station, Haworth and The Bronte Parsonage.

Classic children s film The Railway Children is to receive a sequel, more than 50 years after the original.
Sheridan Smith will star alongside Jenny Agutter, who is reprising her role as Bobbie Waterbury.
The iconic Keighley & Worth Valley Railway from the original film will also feature.
Shooting on The Railway Children Return will begin on Monday, led by Bafta-winning director Morgan Matthews. The film is due in cinemas on 1 April 2022.

The original film was based on the novel by E Nesbit about three children who are shipped off to live in the country beside a railway line after their father is arrested on mysterious spying charges.

BAFTA-winning director Morgan Matthews (“X+Y”) will begin principal photography on May 10 on a sequel to the all-time British kids’ classic “The Railway Children.”
“The Railway Children Return” will shoot in locations around the U.K. from the original 1970 film, including Oakworth Station, Haworth and The Bronte Parsonage. The iconic Keighley & Worth Valley Railway from the original film will also feature.
