Over his 40 years, Tom Mietus has absorbed the lessons of numerous mentors.
He s also formulated his own philosophies and practices regarding leadership in an athletic environment.
Glenbrook High Schools District 225 has rewarded Mietus desire to seek knowledge and apply it. On Monday, the district released Mietus appointment as Glenbrook South s new athletic director, effective July 1.
Performing was predestined for Tom TomCat Trumpet Burke.
Growing up around musicians and the touring lifestyle as the son of a Broadway musician, Burke spent his early years moving around the country before his family settled in Glenview when he was in third grade. With a steady pulse of Broadway tunes in his veins, Burke said he knew music was going to be his life.
I often said, and I ve felt it to be true in my heart, that I really didn t choose the trumpet. It kind of chose me, he said. As soon as I was old enough, there s pictures of me super tiny holding a trumpet.
Cedarville University recently released the fall 2020 Dean s List. This recognition required
Nicole Anderson, of Glenview, to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Kritzman Named to the University of New Hampshire s Dean s List
Morgan Kritzman, of Glenview, has been named to the Dean s List at the University of New Hampshire for earning Honors for the fall 2020 semester. Kritzman is majoring in Marine, Estuarine, and Freshwater Biology.
Sawries Makes Dean s List At Western Illinois University
Nicholas Sawires, of Glenview, was named to the dean s list at Western Illinois University. He is a freshman.
Foundation names 2021 Young Arts winners

YoungArts winners are the nation s most accomplished young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts.

It s a place where students explore their interests, dive into extracurricular activities, finally get the freedom to choose their own classes, and prepare for college or the workplace. For many of these students and their families, public education is key: 56.4 million students enrolled in public elementary and secondary schools in 2020; and there are almost 24,000 public high schools in the U.S., according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
