FE s future bright despite Audi, BMW exit - Gunther Autosport 20/02/2021 © LAT Images FE s future Maximilian Gunther believes Formula E has a very, very bright future and is untouchable despite the loss of two big-ticket manufacturers in Audi and BMW. Both Audi and BMW revealed in December that they would leave Formula E at the end of the 2020/21 season, marking the first time a major car manufacturer has announced its withdrawal from the series. So far Mahindra Racing and DS are the only two manufacturers to publicly commit to the upcoming Gen3 era, although more teams are expected to sign up for the new regulations in the coming months.

Menezes: 2020 Le Mans qualifying lap key to Peugeot WEC deal

Menezes: 2020 Le Mans qualifying lap key to Peugeot WEC deal Autosport 15/02/2021 © LAT Images Menezes: Le Mans qualifying lap key to Peugeot seat Gustavo Menezes believes that his Le Mans 24 Hours qualifying effort last year was key to him being chosen for Peugeot s 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship driver line-up. The 26-year-old has been part of the WEC since he joined the Signatech Alpine LMP2 squad for 2016 and won the class title. He stepped up to join Rebellion Racing in the LMP1 division for the 2018/19 superseason, winning three races thanks to a handicap system that rendered the usually dominant Toyotas ineffective. He was also named as one of the drivers for the two-car Glickenhaus LMH project that will take on Toyota during the 2021 FIA WEC season.

Peugeot Le Mans Hypercar: Paul Di Resta part of new WEC driver line-up

Brits Paul di Resta and James Rossiter have been named as part of the works driver line-up for Peugeot’s 2022 World Endurance Championship (WEC) return. Ex-F1 driver di Resta is joined by fellow former Grand Prix racers Jean-Eric Vergne and Kevin Magnussen, as well as endurance veteran Loic Duval and young chargers Mikkel Jensen and Gustavo Menezes in the full-season squad, while Rossiter will serve as the team’s reserve and simulator driver. Commenting on the announcement, the brand’s motorsport director Jean-Marc Finot said: “The quality of relationship between everybody involved is fundamental. Over and above their individual racing skills, the main criteria we took into account were the ties they have with each other, their mindset and their ability to work together to motivate the team and help to take it forward.”
