During the holiday season for the last 30 years, BSA Hospice of the Southwest has a symbolic Christmas tree lit up outside in front of their office, located at 5211 SW 9th St., for the community to see, reminding the employees, and the community, of the individuals they serve each year as well as the mission of Olivia’s Angels, the organization which helps provide these services.
But this year, the usual in-person lighting of the tree ceremony had to be moved to a virtual setting, like many gatherings, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
But officials with the organization believe that message of joy and hope symbolized by the tree remain the same, and are potentially even more important in 2020.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - BSA Hospice of the Southwest would like to invite the community to the 30th annual Oliviaâs Angels Christmas tree lighting, which is being held virtually this year.
âThe lighting of the Oliviaâs Angels tree is a long-standing hospice tradition,â Kimberli Phillips, Professional Services Manager for BSA Hospice, said. âIt not only honors Sister Olivia Prendergast, but itâs also a way to raise much-needed funds for an organization that does so much for our patients.â
