THE ROTARY Club of Brampton & Longtown has announced that it raised £230 with its seasonal Santa Sleigh event in the two towns last month. The organisation was able to raise the money despite the event taking place with Covid-19 social distancing guidelines in force – meaning the sleigh didn’t stop as it toured the streets, different routes had to be used and Rotary members did not collect door to door. Branch president James Porter said: “The Santa Sleigh is one of our big fundraisers each year, but this year we couldn’t collect door to door. “We decided it was more important to take the Santa Sleigh out to cheer the community up and not be concerned about raising the funds.
