Workers of the National Identity Management Commission have suspended the industrial action they embarked upon on Thursday over the fear of COVID-19 spread in the agency.
It was gathered that the workers decided to put the strike on hold after a meeting with the Federal Government where it was agreed that the demands of the employees would be addressed.
However, the workers gave the government a 21-day ultimatum to meet their demands.

Following a meeting with the Federal Government, staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) have agreed to suspend the industrial action embarked upon on Thursday.
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), NIMC branch had embarked on a strike over the fear of COVID-19 spread in the agency aswell as lack of adequate funding and equipments.
After a meeting with the Federal Government on Friday, the association agreed to call off the strike after the government agreed that the demands of the employees would be addressed.
The President of ASCSN, Mr Lucky Michael, confirming that the strike had been suspended said workers of the commission across the country were being contacted to resume work by Monday and begin the enrolment of citizens for National Identification Numbers.

NIMC resumes NIN enrolment nationwide

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says it has resumed normal enrolment services for the National Identity Number (NIN) at its centres nationwide.
This followed the suspension of its two-day strike action by the staff of the Commission which commenced on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Commission, signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Kayode Adegoke, all the glitches experienced since January 6, 2021, had been sorted out before the resumption of the enrolment exercise by the striking staff.

Recall that the enrolment services at NIMC centres were temporarily disrupted when the local chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) of NIMC embarked on industrial action on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, immediately after their congress.
