Shutterstock M&A activity will be a key driver of Asia Pacific’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, with more than three-quarters of business leaders in the region expecting deals to increase over the coming year, according to a new report from Baker McKenzie. The report – Charting Growth: The New M&A Landscape in Asia Pacific – surveyed 800 senior executives, with 77% expecting an uptick in M&A transactions and 42% betting on a major increase. Most of that activity is likely to be focused on the tech sector, respondents said, with 78% expecting a marked increase in technology-related deals over the coming year.

Elisabethann Wright swaps Hogan Lovells for Cooley as it ramps up EU and US life sciences practices

Wright has parted ways with Hogan Lovells, where she was co-head of the firm’s EU life sciences regulatory practice, after 15 years, having made partner in 2006. Wright’s arrival brings Cooley the benefit of her 35 years’ experience in the EU capital, including stints at White & Case and legacy UK boutique Stanbrook & Hooper – now McDermott Will & Emery. She has also spent time as a referendaire (law clerk) at the European Court of Justice and a senior legal officer at the European Free Trade Association Surveillance Authority.
