KUWAIT CITY, May 2: The Women and Family Affairs Committee was set to discuss Sunday Article 153 of the Penal Code, which stipulates light penalties for those involved in honor killing crimes in light of the recent crimes against women. Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Nazaha Enhancement Abdullah Al-Rumi, and Minister of Social Affairs and Societal Development Dr Mashaan Muhammad Mashaan are expected to attend the meeting.
In another development, MP Mehalhal Al-Mudaf said it is inappropriate to criticize charitable work which is part of the Kuwait society and distinguishes it from other countries. He urged those who have evidence that the Kuwaiti Muslim Brotherhood or any other bloc is involved in conspiracies to inform the concerned authorities. He added that whoever accuses the Brotherhood of involvement in conspiracies must present proof to the authorities.

Speaker invites MPs to April 27 and 28 ordinary sessions
KUWAIT CITY, April 25: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim invited the MPs to the ordinary sessions slated for April 27 and 28, 2021. Items in the agenda include the grilling motions against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, which were dismissed according to the decision of the Assembly to suspend deliberations on such grilling motions until the next parliamentary round.
The grilling motion filed by MPs Ahmed Mutei Al-Azmi and Soud Bu Sleeb against Minister of Health Dr Bssel Al-Sabah will be discussed as well, in addition to voting on eight incoming letters that include the resignation letter of MP Yousef Al-Fadala and letters to assign the Negative Phenomenon to study the causes of rising violence and drug addiction cases and then present solutions and recommendations. China s draft law on food waste, which is scheduled to be submitted for a second review next week, has specified the enforcement department for food waste penalties and tightened the management of banquets using public funds.
The Standing Committee of the 13th National People s Congress (NPC) will convene its 28th session from April 26 to 29 in Beijing, during which the food waste law will be reviewed.

KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The parliamentary Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee has approved the bill on establishing a fund for compensating the victims of real estate fraud. According to the bill, the fund will pay 80 percent of the compensation and the remaining 20 percent will be paid once those behind the real estate fraud are convicted and are then obligated to compensate the victims. The bill was referred to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee prior to its submission to the Parliament.
The Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee also approved the bill submitted by MP Fayez Al-Jomhour to amend Law No. 46/2006 regarding Zakat and contributions of companies to the economy of the State. The bill mandates the Ministry of Finance to collect 2.5 percent of the gains of shareholding companies. The collected money will be handed over to Zakat House to be used for the implementation of humanitarian projects. Al-Jumhour submitted another bill to amend Law No. 16/19
