SAARC reactivation, conflicts resolution urged for peace in South Asia

Islamabad : Expert while speaking at a webinar on Saturday urged the governments to reactivate the South Asia Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to curb the militancy and terrorisms, bilateral conflicts and transboundary challenges confronting the region because of climate change.
Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is the flashpoint between the two nuclear states where violations of human rights are at their peak.
The panel of experts urged the non-democratic forces to give a chance to people to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions within their countries. Democracy ensures basic human rights that lead to peace in a society. But, unfortunately the hegemonic approaches and decision making of the governments have excluded the voices of the people. Only the vested interest prevails at the cost of human rights.

Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred four more Kashmiri youth in Pulwama and Shopian districts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Friday, bringing the toll of the martyred youth to 7 in two days.
According to details, two youth were martyred by the troops during a cordon and search operation at Naibugh area of Pulwama, while two more youth were killed in a similar operation in Jan Mohalla area of Shopian.
Earlier on Thursday last, the troops martyred three youth in the Jan Mohalla area where the operation was stopped Thursday night and resumed early Friday.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Saturday Pakistan was ready for a dialogue with India to resolve the outstanding issues between the two countries, but stressed that New Delhi would have create a conducive environment in order for the talks to take place.
Talking to the media persons after inaugurating the Ramazan Relief Package at a Utility Store in his hometown of Multan, Qureshi elaborated that India must restore the special status of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and stop brutalities inflicted upon the Kashmiri people.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan had marked the beginning of a new era with Russia as delegation-level talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov progressed on Wednesday.
This is the first time since 2012 that a Russian foreign minister had visited Islamabad.
“This visit, that has taken place a decade later, is significant. We hope that Russia will play a role in bringing peace to the region,” Qureshi said. “In bilateral talks, we also discussed economic cooperation and trade relations.”
