Six-part concert series Indie Live kicked off Saturday night Florida bands Driptones and Faze Wave performed at the socially distanced series’ opening night The venue had socially distanced seating and standing space available. “Stay in the Hula-Hoop, motherf -ers!” Faze Wave, one of the two bands who performed at Saturday’s Indie Live concert, bellowed this sentiment from onstage in the middle of its set to keep rowdy concertgoers socially distanced.  The evening marked the opening night of the six-part outdoor concert series hosted by Heartwood Soundstage and Swamp Records, a student-run record label based in Gainesville. The sequence, which spotlights a diverse range of indie groups, kicked off with performances by upbeat, alternative band Faze Wave and rising Gainesville quartet Driptones.

Aly & AJ return with new music as grown up as their audience The pop duo spoke to college students about new music video, Listen!!! Listen!!! will be featured on Aly & AJ s upcoming album, to be released in spring. Alyson and Amanda Michalka are all grown up and their new music reflects it.  After not releasing music for 10 years, the former Disney darlings known by stage names Aly and AJ returned with albums in 2017 and 2020. Most notably, they revamped their classic “Potential Breakup Song” with profanity in Dec. 2020. The music video for their latest song, “Listen!!!” will premiere Thursday.  Listen!!! is reminiscent of their Disney days, mixing an electric and pop sound, with the addition of age and maturation. The song is also just as defiant as “Potential Breakup Song.” In it, Aly and AJ, 31 and 29 respectively, sing about feeling like a hostage, but belt out that they know their way out.

The Forum s new single is a welcome back After a year-long break, the indie-rock band will release a new song Friday The Forum hasn t released a song since January 2020. The Forum is back with new music after a year-long hiatus. The indie-rock band hailing from Gainesville will release their new single “Somebody to Rely On” Friday, their first release since January 2020. After the musicians found each other through a Craigslist ad, the band introduced itself to the Gainesville community and signed with Swamp Records in 2018.  Since then, The Forum grew together as a band, creating music, opening for artists like Colony House, Tessa Violet and Last Dinosaurs and being on festivals lineups with artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Japanese Breakfast.
