StyleWeek is Back in June with a Micro Fashion Event The intimate affair involves three runway shows, including the SEED Student Design Challenge as well as presentations by two local veteran designers lalla bee and Jess Abernethy. May 12, 2021 StyleWeek Northeast is back on Thursday, June 10 with an intimate fashion event held on the patio at the Capital Grille in Providence. This will be the nineteenth season for the Rhode Island-based fashion event that has been marked as a “micro-fashion week.” The smaller affair involves three runway shows, including the SEED Student Design Challenge featuring eleven students’ work from the Lincoln School in Providence as well as presentations by two local veteran designers

Federal government mandates standardized tests While schools have been sympathetic to families’ wishes, they don’t have a choice. The federal government is mandating that all states give their standardized tests this spring, a requirement that was waived last year. Although students are not penalized if they opt out, schools, in the past, have been sanctioned if they fall short of a 95% participation rate, which several superintendents are doubtful they will reach this spring. States, however, can request waivers on this rule.     Although Rhode Island has no opt-out provision, families can apply for a medical exemption from their doctor. Schools can also provide special accommodations for students.
