2020 Freedom Award ceremony going virtual The National Civil Rights Museum By WMC Action News 5 Staff | December 11, 2020 at 7:03 AM CST - Updated December 11 at 4:01 PM MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The annual Freedom Award ceremony, set for Dec. 11, is going virtual this year. The awards honor history makers who make contributions to civil and human rights. The National Civil Rights Museum made the change after having to cancel the in-person gala and awards presentation in June because of COVID-19. However, you can still get in on the special experience from home. Faith Morris, Chief Marketing & External Affairs Officer for the National Civil Rights Museum, said, “Our lives are now virtual, and actually virtual is a good thing for us to do this time because we can expand it to more people around the world. It’s a night to remember.”
