CANANDAIGUA The Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce held a virtual panel discussion on the state of education Tuesday, discussing lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, notable community support and how everyone adapted to remote learning. Being an educator right now, I don’t know if there’s ever been a more challenging time,” said Jamie Farr, Canandaigua City School District superintendent. He cited Black Lives Matter protests in addition to COVID-19 and a challenging budget situation from New York, with no idea what it looks like two to three years from now.
Finger Lakes Community College President Robert Nye agreed with Farr s overall point, describing the pandemic as a series of unknowns.

Ontario County Administrator Christopher DeBolt, Canandaigua Town Supervisor Cathy Menikotz and Canandaigua Mayor Bob Palumbo offered snapshots of accomplishments and looks into the future Tuesday as part of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce’s annual state of the town, city and county held virtually this year, of course.
“The sky is the limit of what we can do here,” Goodwin said, adding, in reference to the baseball film, “at this point, it’s kind of like ‘Field of Dreams.’ You’ve got to build it for the players to come out of the corn.”

“I think the allure is, all of a sudden, families can stop fighting about where to go eat on Friday night,” Heroux said. “Go to Central, and you can order from whoever you want it all comes to the table.
