A Mesa man is in custody after admitting to police that he shot and killed his wife.
According to arrest documents, Vaughn Alexander Wilson, 28, was arrested Tuesday and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.
At around 6 p.m., Maricopa County Sheriff s Office received a 911 call transfer from the Mesa Police Department. On the call, a man reportedly said he killed his wife in their home located near East Sunland Avenue and South 96th Street.
Upon arrival, officers found the man standing in the front yard. He identified himself as Wilson and once again stated he shot and killed his wife. Wilson was taken into custody on Tuesday at around 6:15 p.m.

PHOENIX - Police say a man has been arrested following a series of armed robberies that took place across Phoenix in April and May.
Trey Waters, 29, is accused of being involved in three robberies that ended with two of the victims being shot in the past month. Both shooting victims are still in the hospital with serious injuries.
The incidents happened on April 12, April 25 and May 9. In the first case, Waters allegedly entered a motel room near the I-10 and 51st Avenue while a couple were inside, demanding their property.
