Portimão’s canning factory museum has been listed among the 50 most influential museums in Europe, in the book “Revisiting Museums of Influence”, by English publisher Routledge Area Studies. The book addresses the 50 most relevant museums that, in the last 40 years, between 1979 and 2019, have applied for the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) and Council of Europe Museum Awards. It aims to demonstrate that excellence can be found in very diverse museums, regardless of their theme, scale or source of funding.
