ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor officials are voicing support for legislation introduced by state Sen. Jeff Irwin in hopes of restoring local control over guns on public property.
City Council unanimously OK’d a resolution this week in support of Senate Bill 352, which would allow cities, townships and counties to prohibit firearms on their municipal properties.

ANN ARBOR, MI The question of whether Ann Arbor elected officials need coaching to get along and function better as a City Council was a topic of discussion Monday night.
Council Member Kathy Griswold, D-2nd Ward, reintroduced a resolution “to improve council effectiveness, performance and communications” at council’s May 3 meeting.

ANN ARBOR, MI A new townhouse-style condo development on a long-vacant site north of downtown Ann Arbor now has City Council’s final OK to proceed.
Council voted unanimously Monday night, April 19, to approve a rezoning and site plan for the project at 700 N. Main St.
Auburn Hills-based Trowbridge Companies plans to build 22 market-rate condos in two rows with a middle courtyard.
“We want to thank the city of Ann Arbor’s team approach of working with us to help bring this wonderful project to fruition,” said project architect Bill Jarratt of Jarratt Architecture.

Here in Washtenaw County, the Health Department and the University of Michigan announced how it would affect their ongoing vaccination clinics, postponing or canceling some appointments, while keeping some scheduled and switching to the Pfizer vaccine.

“The blood clots identified after the AstraZeneca and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine are concerning, but seem to be quite rare,” said cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist Dr. Geoffrey Barnes. “Physicians are aware of this condition and have the necessary tools to diagnose and treat patients if this very rare condition occurs.”
