Gov Evers orders flags to half staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day

By Logan Rude May 7, 2021 3:26 PM MADISON, Wis. Gov. Tony Evers has ordered flags be flown at half staff next weekend in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. Evers’ order goes into effect at sunrise on Saturday, May 15 and ends at sunset later that day. Peace Officers Memorial Day is an annual day of remembrance in honor of law enforcement officers who’ve lost their lives or been disabled in the line of duty.

DeSoto City Council Votes Yes on Water Distribution Master Plan

DeSoto City Council Votes Yes on Water Distribution Master Plan Share via: Water Distribution Master Plan for DeSoto Passes DESOTO – Earlier this week the DeSoto City Council voted yes on a Water Distribution Master Plan that will take the city into the next 25 years. At the end of the presentation before council voted unanimously to accept, DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor reminded residents, “Council is looking at solutions to offset any costs for the capital project related to this distribution plan.” The water master plan could include a rate increase, but in the long term it looks at the needs for the future in the city of DeSoto. Also considering a look at the long-term investments of the city’s asset management.

Commissioners Court requests Public Defense Office

At its May 3 meeting, the Hays County Commissioners Court submitted a grant application for $1,085,325 to the Texas Indigent Defense Commission, Improvement Grant Program for the Hays County Holistic Public Defense Office and Managed Assigned Counsel Program, generating the request for a Public Defender’s Office. A renewal grant application was also authorized for submission to the Texas Indigent Defense Commission for the Indigent Defense Coordinator grant project in the amount of $77,292, for which the county will provide a cash match of up to 60%. The Commissioners Court proclaimed May 9-15 as Police Week and May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, acknowledging officers who have passed while in the line of duty.
