A little more relief will be available for owners of child care centers in Tennessee.
The Department of Human Services and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee are offering $15 million through a program called ChildcareTennessee.
State-licensed operators of child care centers can apply for grants to pay for cleaning and sanitation of their facilities and operating expenses including salaries, insurance, rent and personal protective equipment.
This new funding is in addition to the $52 million already spent by DHS and The Community Foundation for child care relief during the first year of the pandemic. Availability of quality child care is critical to Tennessee communities and continuing economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, said DHS Commissioner Clarence H. Carter.
