Northeast Michigan, your generosity is amazing | News, Sports, Jobs

Alpena News editorial It always warms our heart to hear of the good deeds area residents do for one another. Earlier this month, an anonymous person once again continued a tradition that began years ago in the local red kettles of the Salvation Army. Someone went to five red kettle locations around Alpena and, in each, dropped five $100 bills folded together and held by a paper clip. For over 24 years, CFNEM Program Director Julie Wiesen has been one of those people behind the scenes, but she is now transitioning into retiring at the end of the year. “Disabling the 6 o’ clock alarm in the morning, I think of spending more time with family, friends, things I like to do, grandson and just connecting with people,” said Wiesen.
