Harvesting of homegrown fruit, vegetables and herbs has surged in popularity over the past 12 months.
With people being largely confined to their homes since March 2020, documenting the growth of seedlings and watering pots became a ritual to many.
Many discovered that you don’t need to be an expert in the field to grow your own produce – or even have a garden for that matter. All that’s required is some basic equipment, seeds or seedlings, compost, pots and, of course, patience.

Hoping to give back and do their bit for local communities, Tesco Danestone staff gave up their free time last weekend to help clean up Aberdeen Beach.
Tesco Danestone manager Lucy Mercer said that after speaking to Mike Scotland who runs Community cleanUP, she and her team were inspired to take part in one of the organisation’s beach clean-up events.
She said: “He has a local hub and he spoke to us about doing a community clean-up and I thought it was a great idea.

Mora than £2 million has already been raised for Scottish charities
While Scotland’s Virtual Kiltwalk takes place this weekend, 10,000 Kiltwalkers have already raised more than £2 million for nearly 1,000 Scottish charities, including Aberdeen’s CFINE, Charlie House, Friends of the Neuro Ward and more.
The £1.4 million that has already been raised has been given a 50% boost by The Hunter Foundation, ensuring that 980 charities, badly hit by the pandemic, will receive a much-needed share of the £2.1 million cash pot by the first week in May.
Philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter is challenging everyone in Scotland to sign-up and fundraise for the charity they care most about.
