LOCAL NEWS | MAY 21, 2021May 21, 2021 in News The final phase of a COVID-19 relief grant is now open for eligible hospitality industry businesses through SEDA-COG.  Eligible businesses have until June 15th, or until the funds are spent, to apply.  Seven counties have funds remaining, including Mifflin, Juniata, and Snyder Counties.   Apply at the Community Giving Foundation’s website at https://csgiving.org/chirp/. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000.  For more information, visit www.seda-cog.org.   A truck crash has closed a Juniata County bridge.  The North Oriental Covered Bridge on Route 2023 at the Juniata-Snyder County line is closed until repairs can be made.  A detour is in place using Turkey Valley Road, Old 22 Road, Route 104, and Covered Bridge Road.

Mifflin County High School is closed today (April 29 th) through Sunday (May 2 nd) due to protocol after a sixth individual tested positive for COVID-19.  Officials plan to have the school open for in-person instruction on Monday (May 3 rd).  All events at Mifflin County High School scheduled through Sunday (May 2nd) have been cancelled.  During the closure, teachers will execute a full remote learning plan.   Cause of death is undetermined for remains found in Huntingdon County.  A State Police K-9 Unit responded to a search for a missing person on Tuesday on Broadtop Mountain Road in Coalmont.  The unit discovered skeletal remains which were transported to Mercyhurst University Forensic Anthropology for processing.  The case is under investigation by the Huntingdon State Police Crime Unit.

Clinton County businesses get COVID funding | News, Sports, Jobs

LANA MUTHLER lmuthler@lockhaven.com LOCK HAVEN Three more businesses in Clinton County have received funding through the COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP). Those receiving a total of $70,000 in grants in the second phase of the program are Twilight Diner of Loganton, $30,000; Variety Buffet of Mill Hall, $15,000 and Stella A’s Bar and Grill in Lock Haven, $25,000. With the second phase of the COVID relief grant program now ended, applications are being accepted for the third phase of the four-phase program open to 10 counties and directed to help hospitality businesses that are struggling from the pandemic’s impacts. Seven businesses in Clinton County received funds from the first phase of the program Lock Haven Motel, in Mill Hall, $25,000; Riverside Saloon in Lock Haven, $20,000; Main Street Grill in Lock Haven, $25,000; Quality Inn in Mill Hall, $35,000; Hampton Inn in Mill Hall, $30,000; Best Western in Lock Haven, $35,000, and Restless Oaks in
