Luciana Corrales
A San Ysidro School Board member has failed to disclose her employment and personal income as required by state law.
Luciana Corrales, who was first appointed to the board in June 2014 and then elected to a full 4-year term in November 2014, filed Economic Interest disclosures in July and December 2014. The forms are blank as to her employer and amount of income earned between June 2013 and December 2014.
The forms, officially referred to as Form 700, are required under state law to be filed by all elected officials. The disclosures should include all income, assets, and liabilities with only few exceptions. For instance, income from government entities or a person’s primary residence are not required to be disclosed.
Danville Public Library and Danville Public Schools recently developed the Student Access Program, giving all students, faculty, and staff associated with the school system access to materials, online databases, and streaming services through the library. Being able to offer this invaluable service to ALL students is remarkable, stated Anne Moore-Sparks, Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator. We applaud the Danville Public Library for being innovative and creative in finding ways to engage our students, especially during this unprecedented time of COVID-19.â
The program will launch on Monday, Jan. 11.
âWe cannot be more excited about this much needed service for our community,â said Russell Carter, Director of Danville Public Library. âThis has certainly been a challenging year for parents, students, and the school system.  A diverse group of organizations and individuals known as the Jetty Creek Working Group have agreed on a collaborative framework to conserve and manage the lower portion of the Jetty Creek watershed. The milestone marks three years of effort and begins the next phase of work toward long-term stewardship via conservation easements or similar methods.
The lower watershed - about 600 acres - is currently owned and managed by Lewis & Clark Timberlands, a holding of GreenWood Resources Inc. Including the upper portion, the 1,200-acre Jetty Creek watershed is the drinking water source for the Rockaway Beach community. GreenWood began managing the lower watershed in January 2017 and, as the working group came together to discuss conditions in the watershed, GreenWood volunteered a two-year moratorium on harvest and spray activities while the group explored opportunities for conservation. The working group met numerous times, including several hands-on field trips into the watershed. Su

The forecast was ominous. The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico provided the perfect conditions for a weather disturbance to explode from a tropical storm into a category 4 hurricane in just 48 hours. Predictions included a 20-foot storm surge that local officials described as “unsurvivable.” Coastal residents from Galveston, Texas to Gulfport, Mississippi braced for what may lie ahead, but ultimately it was southwest Louisiana that bore the brunt as Hurricane Laura made landfall at 1:00 am on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
