In the post, the social activist said his “life is more than a 40-year-old accusation,” and asked his supporters to pray for him and “for the person,” seemingly referring to his accuser. According to Pfleger, the diocese asked him “not to speak out at this time,” but he took to Facebook to post the short statement on Wednesday.

Chicago murder suspect identified through Facebook account By Sun-Times Media Wire CHICAGO - A 24-year-old Anthony Neal was charged with felony first degree murder and attempted first degree murder, according to Chicago police. Neal was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, after being identified as the person who shot two people about 7:30 p.m. June 21 in the 800 block of North Springfield Avenue, police said. In the shooting, 22-year-old Toby Boens was pronounced dead at the scene and 34-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The shooting was captured on a private surveillance video, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Neal was due in bond court Thursday, and the state’s attorney’s office said detectives recovered 10 fired shell casings from the shooting in June. They identified Neal through his Facebook account.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL The Chicago Heights Public Library is planning to take two former officials to court and asking for a criminal investigation after an independent forensic audit revealed more than $440,000 in mishandled funds, according to a news release. According to the library, former director Kelly Nichols-Brown made thousands of dollars worth of credit card purchases, payments and petty cash transactions that appear to have been personal in nature. Former board President Lori Wilcox was tasked with overseeing Nichols-Brown, but did not hold monthly oversight meetings as required. The library says it will sue to get that money back, and current officials are calling on the Cook County State s Attorney s Office to investigate.
