As Minnesotans followed from afar as a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, WTIP spoke to Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen to see if he had any thoughts for the community. The sheriff was a reassuring voice that evening.
In recent days there have been news releases from the FBI, warning of the possibility of more violence in the days leading up to the inauguration of President Joe Biden. The reports have stated that armed rallies are planned for the Capitol buildings of all 50 states, as well as some local county and city buildings across the country.

US Attorney John R. Lausch Jr. said in a statement.

Capriotti’s arrest comes less than a week after a mob of President Trump’s supporters
stormed the US Capitol as Congress began formally counting the Electoral College votes to certify Biden’s win. Five people died in the riot.
Authorities have expressed concern about more violence erupting in the lead-up to and during Biden’s inauguration and Trump on Monday

District 1 – Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked coyote hunters and anglers around Roseau County. Anglers were checked on Lake of the Woods. Violations encountered included angling without a license and angling with extra lines.
CO Aaron Larson (Baudette) worked angling, ATVing, snowmobiling, and trapping enforcement. Larson attended fisher/marten registration in Baudette and spent time checking anglers on Lake of the Woods and Upper Red Lake.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette) reports participating in snowmobile safety and operations training, checking furs and trappers at the recent furbearer registration, patrolling the area for trapping activity, and checking anglers on the Rainy River and Upper Red Lake. CO Sura wants to remind folks to make sure they have current registration on their ATVs and snowmobiles before hitting the lakes and trails, and that all non-portable fish houses and shelters require licenses.
