Covid-19: Flights resume to Cook Islands after NZ goes a week without community cases

Cook Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration would allow entry for those who met the criteria, with travellers needing to be in either New Zealand of Cook Islands for 14 days. “All passengers will be required to obtain a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure from Auckland.” Passengers arriving from New Zealand would be required to take a Covid test on day six after their return to the Cook Islands. However, Australia has yet to decide whether to resume quarantine-free flights with New Zealand, with a decision expected on on Tuesday.

Passengers to defer flight as Cooks allows time for test results

The Cook Islands government is taking a wait and see approach to the resumption of passenger flights from New Zealand. Thirty Cook Islanders who were planning to travel to Rarotonga today have been advised by the government to defer their departure to the next scheduled Air New Zealand flight to their country on Saturday. The deferral came after the Cooks cabinet met last night to discuss the ramifications of the recent community case of Covid-19 in Northland, New Zealand.
