Newswise MONTCLAIR, New Jersey (April 26, 2020) – Alec Grabowski has been named chief operating officer (COO) for Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center. He replaces Tim O’Brien, who was promoted to chief executive officer in August 2020.
Grabowski comes to Mountainside Medical Center with over a decade of healthcare leadership experience in a variety of hospital settings including; United Health Services in Binghamton, NY, Evolent Health and WellStar Health System, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer at Hospital Corporation of America’s Summerville Medical Center, where he also served as interim hospital president. SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - It is National Volunteer Week and Summerville Medical Center is praising one of its volunteers who is paying it forward after she spent time as a hospital patient.
Lisa Schiller has Newfoundland therapy dogs named Chewie and Abraham and has been volunteering at the hospital for about three years. Schiller’s experience with therapy dogs began when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor five years ago. The tumor was pressing on her brain stem and she was told she needed emergency surgery. She was also told she may not have long to live. When a therapy dog visited her in the hospital, it brought her peace.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - A volunteer celebrated his 98th birthday Tuesday with friends and staff at Summerville Medical Center.
Lenny Singer has volunteered at the facility for 16 years.
His family, staff and fellow volunteers worked together to surprise him on his birthday with cake and hugs.
Singer said he started off volunteering in the hospital’s emergency room, but then spent 15 years in the mailroom.
