SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - New College of Florida hosted a communitywide COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Harry Sudakoff Conference Center in partnership with Hedges Health Mart Pharmacy and the Sarasota County Health Department.
The Moderna vaccine was offered to the students, faculty and staff of New College and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, as well as the greater community.
Pharmacist Dana Schmelzer said the partnership was created to streamline the process of creating accessibility for all.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - On Monday, the state expanded eligibility for vaccines to anyone who is 18 and up. Also, starting Friday, there’s no need for an appointment to get a shot from the Sarasota County Health Department. Now, health officials are looking at distributing vaccines to some businesses.
“We’re shy of 200,000 people receiving at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Steve Huard, public information officer for Sarasota County Health Department.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota County health officials say their new drive-thru vaccination site at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota went well. 1100 vaccine shots were administered on Thursday. 1800 more will be given out on Friday.
“It is a lot more resource intensive to do a drive-thru, we did it out here so we could test it out, see how it would work,” said Chuck Henry, Health Officer for the Sarasota County Health Department. “I’m not certain that we’re going to stay here, we’re looking around at other options throughout the community.”
