PROVIDENCE - A 20-year-old Greenfield Center woman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly breaking in and vandalizing the now abandoned and crumbling Homestead building, the Saratoga County Sheriff s Office said.
The woman was charged with burglary and criminal mischief after deputies investigated a complaint of vandalism at the Homestead, the county s former tuberculosis sanatorium, deputies said.
Cruelty to dogs alleged in Malta

MALTA A Malta couple faces misdemeanor cruelty to animal charges after the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of dogs living in poor conditions at a Malta Gardens Mobile Home Park residence.
The investigation into the complaint resulted in the Sheriff’s Office obtaining a seizure order for the animals and two pit bulls were secured by the Malta Animal Control Officer. Those arrested were Malta residents ages 41 and 42, who are accused of failing to provide sustenance to the animals and of keeping them in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions. They were given court appearance tickets.
A man from Halfmoon is accused of stealing more than $24,000 from Home Depot.
According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Greklek took merchandise from the Halfmoon store without paying for it in January, February, and March this year. Deputies say he then received markdowns on the price of the stolen merchandise.
He is charged with grand larceny and scheduled to appear in Halfmoon Town Court at a later date.
