This New Russian Combat Vehicle Is the Future of Warfare
The Bumerang is just one of the many new pieces of military hardware that Moscow will be presenting at the arms show, which is Belarus s largest defense show.
The latest version of the Russian military s VPK-7829 Bumerang will roll out at the MILEX 2021 International Arms Show in Belarus this week, according to the state-owned arms seller Rosoboronexport, which is part of the Russian military tech conglomerate Rostec.
The Bumerang is the latest standardized wheeled armored platform for multiservice forces to be developed by the Russian Military-Industrial Company (MIC). The modular amphibious wheeled infantry fighter vehicle (IFV) and armored personnel carrier (APC) has a crew of three, including the driver, gunner, and commander, and can carry upwards of eight passengers.
The new mobile Zashchita system will help take out enemy drones.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, have the potential to be a force multiplier to be used against an adversary on the battlefield. However, just as attempts are being developed to utilize drones as an offensive weapon, there are now efforts to counter drones.
Last week, the Russian-based Ruselectronics Group, which is part of the state tech corporation Rostec, announced that it has developed a new mobile system, dubbed the Zashchita, to counter unmanned aerial vehicles.
“A mobile counter-drone system that fits into three briefcases has been created,” the Rostec press office told Tass. “The system is capable of jamming drone control within a radius of 2 km irrespective of the time of day and weather conditions, staying invisible and invulnerable to radio countermeasures. It takes no more than 30 minutes to deploy the system.”
