2 May 2021 Purpose: The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), with the funding support of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), seeks to assess the extent to which Women Empowerment Programme (WEP) has achieved its goals and objectives of building resilience and improved livelihoods of marginalized and underprivileged women in the target communities. Audience: The results of this evaluation will be used by PRCS, IFRC, KRCS and Partner National Societies (PNSs) and other stakeholders involved in the programme to assess the progress made towards achieving the planned objectives of the WEP.

The drought and food crisis is one of the worst suffered in Afghanistan in recent decades, as 13.1 million people are grappling with food shortages according to the latest food insecurity analysis, IFRC said in a press release on Tuesday.

As La Soufrière volcano remains highly active, these numbers may increase in the coming weeks and months. So far, almost 1,500 families in St Vincent & the Grenadines have been displaced and more than 8,000 people have been evacuated and are staying at public and private shelters. Nearly all of the 110,600 residents of the island have been indirectly affected by ashfall, water restrictions and the destruction of their livelihoods.
