  Thousands of women dressed in black outfits on Wednesday took to the streets of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to demand justice for the Iniubong Umoren, a young lady who was raped and killed by a fraudulent job recruiter. The protesters were led by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ini Adiakpan, and other women in the state executive cabinet. The women, who were drawn from various groups including the Nigeria Union of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), the International Federation of Female Lawyers, the National Council for Women Societies, female doctors among other organisations walked major roads in Uyo, the state capital to demand justice.

Child Trafficking: Rivers Court sentences 22 year-old to 12 years in Jail Published A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced a young lady, Joy Olaka-Nwogu to twelve years imprisonment with hard labour after being convicted of child trafficking. 22-year old Joy was sentenced to four years in each of the three counts of child trafficking, conspiracy and theft which is expected to run concurrently. Joy Olaka-Wogu was reported to have stolen and sold the first child in the sum of thirty thousand naira but was caught in her attempt to steal twin children in 2018 before she was arraigned in court.

Police arrest man for allegedly defrauding church members of N5m

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Police Command in Lagos has arrested one MacDonald Iwara, for allegedly defrauding his church members of N5 million. NAN reports that the 33-year-old who was arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos on Thursday pleaded not guilty to the crime levelled against him. The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Stephen Molo, while presenting the case told the court that the defendant committed the offence between 2017 and 2020 at Ikota road, Lagos. Molo revealed that the defendant pretended to be the General Overseer of Our Daily Manna church, Chris Kwakpovwe to carry out his unlawful acts. He said the defendant defrauded the church members by collecting huge amounts of money in the form of tithes and offerings from them.
