She will immediately assume leadership of the management, promotion, and operation of the facilities. “I believe Karen Totaro is the best leader to continue to inspire TCF Center’s talented team in helping us sprint forward from the pandemic impact,” says Larry Alexander, board chairman of the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority in Detroit. “TCF Center has earned a world-class reputation while making a major financial impact for our region and state. ASM Global is a critical component to the growth in our meetings and conventions, which became a driving force in tax revenues, jobs, and the improvement of the reputation of Detroit and southeast Michigan, all of which helped to secure one of the largest naming rights sponsorships anywhere in the industry.”

VBC to keep mask policy in place until further notice

While Alabama’s statewide mask mandate expired on April 9, the Von Braun Center (VBC) will continue requiring facial coverings in the facility per Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle’s Face Covering Protocols for City Premises released on April 8.

In Huntsville, this sucked particularly hard. 2020 got off to such a promising start, with the opening of Mars Music Hall. The gleaming new Von Braun Center room filled a gaping hole in the city’s venue mix, 1,500-ish capacity, and brought in an array of solid acts from rock to country to metal to bluegrass. Artists whose tour buses had in years past simply drove past Huntsville, with no place to perform here.
